NOALBS config generator
Fill this in and you get a config.json that NOALBS v2 will actually load. Every field maps to a real setting — no invented options, no guesswork — and the panel on the right updates as you type.
It all runs in your browser. Your obs-websocket password and your bot token are never uploaded anywhere, because there is nowhere to upload them to: this page has no server behind it.
Who you are
Any name. It labels this configuration inside NOALBS; it is not a login.
Ingest servers
Where NOALBS reads your bitrate from. Not from Twitch — from the server you publish to. Add more than one if you have a backup path.
The statistics endpoint of your ingest server, reachable from wherever NOALBS runs.
Your three scenes
The names have to match your OBS character for character. This is the single most common reason switching silently stops working.
Thresholds
In kbps, measured on the feed arriving at your ingest. Leave a field empty to disable that trigger.
Not sure what numbers to use?
Put in the bitrate you really hold walking your usual route — not the one you set in the encoder. It is normally lower.
Suggested: 1000 low, 500 offline.
Below this, it switches to your low-bitrate scene.
Below this, it switches to your offline scene. Leave empty to disable.
Latency ceiling in ms. Above it, the low-bitrate scene comes in too.
Latency ceiling for the offline scene. Must be higher than the one above.
How many bad readings in a row before it moves anything. 5 ignores a two-second glitch.
Leave this on unless you want scenes switching while you set things up.
Your OBS
Enable the WebSocket server in OBS under Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. Port 4455 by default.
Chat bot
Optional. Lets your moderators drive the switch from chat, and stops the stream when you raid.
Optional
Extra scenes and behaviour. Leave anything you do not use empty.
Waits for Twitch to give you transcoding before going live.
Seconds of silence before it gives up. Empty = no timeout.
Three things that break it silently
None of these produce an error. NOALBS keeps running, reports nothing, and simply stops switching — which you find out live.
- A renamed scene. What gets saved is the scene name. Rename it in OBS and the switcher is left pointing at something that no longer exists. Nothing warns you.
- Thresholds copied from someone else. They depend on the bitrate you actually hold and on how your connection fails. Somebody else’s numbers will either take you off shot at every traffic light or react once the stream is already frozen.
- Chat credentials in the wrong place. In v2 they are environment variables, not config fields. A perfect config.json with no .env gives you a bot that never joins.
Questions
Where does this send my data?
Nowhere. The page is static and the generator runs in your browser; there is no backend to receive anything. Your obs-websocket password and bot token stay on your machine.
Which NOALBS version is this for?
The v2 format, with the switcher, streamServers and software sections. The old obs/rtmp/twitchChat layout is v1; NOALBS converts it on first run.
Why are there more server types here than elsewhere?
Because the list comes from the NOALBS source rather than from its README, which documents the old format. There are thirteen, including IRLhosting, OpenIRL, OpenRTMP and the WebSocket feed.
Do I need this if I am with Enhanced IRL?
No. On our plans NOALBS is already installed, running and configured from the panel — there is no file to write. This is for people running it themselves.
Where do I put the files?
Both go next to the NOALBS binary: config.json, and .env with the leading dot if you set up a Twitch bot.
Or skip the file entirely
On our plans it comes already running, configured from the panel. Cloud OBS from €29/month, or €9 to drive the OBS you already have.
