Enhanced IRL vs Streamrun: two different ways to keep an IRL stream alive

Last updated: 21 August 2026. All Streamrun figures on this page were checked that day on streamrun.com.

Streamrun and Enhanced IRL both sit between your phone and Twitch, and both keep your broadcast alive when your mobile connection drops. That is where the similarity ends. Streamrun is a cloud pipeline you configure in a browser editor: it ingests your feed, composes it and pushes it out to several platforms. Enhanced IRL runs a real OBS Studio for you on a GPU server, with a remote desktop you actually log into. This page compares both with their published numbers, and says plainly which one you should buy — including the several cases where that is Streamrun.

What Streamrun actually is

Streamrun is a cloud streaming service with two products. Streamrun Go is a flat $25/month plan: two video inputs over RTMP, SRT or SRTLA, Full HD at 60 fps, disconnect protection with automatic failover to an image or video, AI noise cancellation, 10 GB of storage and multistreaming to up to two destinations. It has a 14-day free trial with up to 2 hours of streaming per day and no credit card. Streamrun Pro is pay-as-you-go from $0.39/hour, billed per second while you are live: it opens a node-based visual editor, per-destination encoding and overlays, picture-in-picture, a REST API and unlimited multistream destinations.

What Streamrun is not is a Cloud OBS. Their own documentation is explicit about it: you encode in OBS on your own machine and send one stream to them. There is no OBS Studio instance and no remote desktop on their side — you build your layout in their browser editor instead. That single fact decides most of this comparison, in both directions.

When Streamrun is the right answer

For a large share of IRL streamers, it is. Be honest with yourself about which of these describes you:

  • You want 1080p60 for as little as possible. Streamrun Go does Full HD 60 fps for a flat $25/month. Our 1080p60 tier is OBS Pro at €89/month. If your only requirement is a reliable relay that survives drops at 1080p60, they are cheaper and it is not close.
  • You need multistreaming. Two destinations on Go, unlimited on Pro. We do not have multistreaming at all — one stream, one destination. If you go out to Twitch, YouTube and Kick at once, stop reading here and use Streamrun.
  • You already build your scenes in your own OBS. If your PC or laptop encodes fine and you only want the cloud for reliability and fan-out, a full Cloud OBS is a machine you would be paying for and not using.
  • You want to try before paying. They publish a 14-day trial with up to 2 hours a day and no credit card. We do not offer a free trial.
  • You stream in bursts. Streamrun Pro bills per second at $0.39/hour and up. If you go live a few hours a month, per-second billing beats any monthly subscription, ours included.
  • You send very high bitrate, or 4K. They accept up to 25 Mbps at ingest and sell a 4K add-on. Our ingest caps at 9,000–10,000 kbps depending on plan and our ceiling is 1080p60. If you need more, we cannot serve you.
  • You stream from a region we do not cover. They route you to the nearest ingest server automatically. We have ingest in Europe (Frankfurt), Asia (Singapore) and US East (New York). If you stream from South America, Africa or Oceania, that difference is real latency, not a footnote.

When Enhanced IRL is the right answer

The reason to pay us more is a machine, not a feature list. It comes down to whether you want to run OBS itself in the cloud:

  • You want a real OBS Studio you can log into. OBS Standard and OBS Pro give you actual OBS Studio on a GPU server through a remote desktop in your browser: your scenes, your sources, your filters, your plugins. Streamrun's docs are clear that they do not run OBS for you; you get their editor and their elements instead.
  • Your phone is your only computer. If you go live from a phone with a bonded encoder and no PC behind it, someone has to compose the scenes. With Streamrun that someone is their editor, within what it can do. With us it is OBS, doing whatever OBS does.
  • You want to keep using the OBS on your PC, but managed. Any Stream Key plan lets you connect the OBS on your home machine to our dashboard and drive it remotely, with automatic scene switching handled on our ingest. No port forwarding, no VPS.
  • You want a cheap relay and nothing else. Stream Key Lite is €5/month for RTMP, SRT and SRTLA ingest with a 9,000 kbps ceiling. If all you need is a publish URL that does not die, that is the smallest bill on this page.
  • You care where the servers are. We publish ours: ingest in Europe (Frankfurt), Asia (Singapore) and US East (New York), with Cloud OBS in Europe. Streamrun routes to the nearest ingest but does not publish the list of regions.
  • You work in Spanish or French. Our dashboard, website and documentation are in English, Spanish and French. Streamrun does not publish which languages its interface supports.

Drop protection: same promise, two designs

This is what an IRL streamer is actually buying, so it is worth being precise. Streamrun's disconnect protection keeps their server connected to Twitch and YouTube while your device is reconnecting: viewers see your last frame or a placeholder image you upload, and your feed resumes automatically. Their Failover element can also cut to a backup input or a pre-recorded clip when your bitrate collapses. It is included in both plans and needs no setup.

On Enhanced IRL, if you use Cloud OBS, the protection is automatic scene switching inside OBS itself, with a preconfigured Offline scene. It ships on every Cloud OBS plan at no extra cost. Because the switch happens inside a real OBS, your fallback is a scene: text, a countdown, a chat widget, whatever you can build in OBS — not a static image slot. That is the whole difference, and whether it is worth anything depends entirely on how much you want to design that moment.

We also sell a standalone Failover relay from €9/month, but read the small print before comparing it to their $25: it exists for people who broadcast from their own OBS and want nothing else from us. If you already have a Cloud OBS plan, you do not need it and you should not buy it. And if you broadcast from your own OBS and also want multistreaming, Streamrun Go bundles both for one flat price — that is a straight win for them.

Pricing in detail

Enhanced IRL sells three separate products, monthly, in euros with VAT included and no commitment. Stream keys: Stream Key Lite (€5/month, relay only) and Stream Key (€9/month, relay plus remote control of your own local OBS), both with RTMP, SRT and SRTLA ingest up to 9,000 kbps. Cloud OBS: OBS Basic (€29/month, 720p60, no remote desktop), OBS Standard (€59/month, 1080p30, 2 stream keys, remote desktop) and OBS Pro (€89/month, 1080p60, 3 stream keys), all on a dedicated NVIDIA GPU with automatic scene switching included. Failover: €9, €19 and €29/month for 5, 10 and 15 Mbps, for people publishing from their own OBS. See full plan details.

Streamrun sells two, in US dollars with taxes added at checkout. Streamrun Go is a flat $25/month with a 14-day free trial limited to 2 hours a day. Streamrun Pro starts at $0.39/hour, billed per second while you are live; their documentation gives the example of a 2.5-hour stream costing 2.5 × $0.39 = $0.975, and notes that heavier configurations need a larger server and cost more per hour. Pro includes 1 GB of file storage, with more sold in 1 GB increments. They do not publish the price of the extra storage or of the 4K GPU add-on.

The honest summary: for a plain 1080p60 IRL broadcast with multistreaming, Streamrun Go at $25/month undercuts anything we sell. The number to compare against ours is not $25 versus €89, though — it is $25 versus €5 or €9 if a relay is all you need, and $25 versus €59–89 if what you want is a whole OBS machine of your own. Those are different purchases.

Frequently asked questions

Is Streamrun a cloud OBS?

No. Their documentation states that you encode in OBS on your own computer and send a single stream to them; there is no OBS Studio instance running on their side and no remote desktop. What they give you is a browser-based node editor where you wire inputs, overlays, failover and outputs. Enhanced IRL is the other model: OBS Studio itself, running on a GPU server, that you open in your browser.

Which is cheaper, Streamrun or Enhanced IRL?

It depends on what you are buying. For 1080p60 with drop protection and multistreaming, Streamrun Go at $25/month is cheaper than any plan we sell — our 1080p60 tier is €89/month. If all you need is an RTMP/SRT/SRTLA relay, Stream Key Lite at €5/month is cheaper than Streamrun. And if you stream only a few hours a month, Streamrun Pro's per-second billing from $0.39/hour will beat both. Prices checked on streamrun.com on 21 August 2026; ours include VAT, theirs add taxes at checkout.

Does Streamrun support SRTLA bonding?

Yes. Their input documentation lists RTMP, SRT and SRTLA, with SRTLA marked as beta and a maximum accepted latency of 4000 ms. Enhanced IRL also accepts SRTLA on every plan that comes with a stream key, so a BELABOX or Moblin bonded setup works on either service.

Can I multistream with Enhanced IRL?

No. We stream to one destination. Streamrun does two destinations on Go and unlimited on Pro. If simultaneous Twitch, YouTube and Kick output is a requirement for you, Streamrun is the correct choice today and we would rather you knew that before paying us.

Do I have to pay extra for drop protection with Enhanced IRL?

Not on Cloud OBS. Every Cloud OBS plan includes automatic scene switching and a preconfigured Offline scene at no extra cost. The separate Failover product, from €9/month, is for a different customer: someone broadcasting from the OBS on their own PC who wants that protection without a Cloud OBS.

What is the maximum quality on each service?

Enhanced IRL tops out at 1080p60 on OBS Pro, with ingest capped between 6,000 and 10,000 kbps depending on the plan. Streamrun accepts up to 25 Mbps at ingest, does Full HD as standard and offers 4K through a GPU acceleration add-on whose price is not published on their site. If you need more than 1080p60, we are not the service for you.

Where are the servers?

We publish ours: ingest is in Europe (Frankfurt), Asia (Singapore) and US East (New York), and Cloud OBS runs in Europe only. Streamrun routes your ingest to the nearest server automatically through ingest.streamrun.io, but does not publish which regions those servers are in. If you stream from a region we do not cover — South America, Africa or Oceania — that is a point in their favour.
